Sheffield Shield wrap: Crowning the award winners for the 2024 Season
The conclusion of the Sheffield Shield season, here's the announcement of the players and teams who have succeeded - and failed - this year.
The high-flying Queensland Bulls travel to Perth to take on the struggling Western Warriors. Join The Roar to stay up-to-date with scores starting from 1:30pm (AEDT) on Thursday.
In big selection news, Nathan Coulter-Nile has been named to play the first two days of this fixture for the Warriors before heading on Australia’s ODI tour of South Africa.
Coulter-Nile has been starved of match practice by a number of injuries this summer. This will be his first outing since dislocating his shoulder in the Perth Scorchers’ first Big Bash game.
Coulter-Nile will be replaced by Joel Paris for the final two days of the match, as Western Australia look to boost their fledgling season with a win over the Bulls, who currently sit second on the ladder.
The Warriors’ chances will be boosted by the return of Shaun Marsh, who was released early from the Australian Test squad to play this match.
Queensland will go into the match confident of a victory following their recent win over Tasmania. Veteran James Hopes blasted 94 off 60 balls to set up a first-innings lead in that match, before a composed innings from Charlie Hemphrey guided the Bulls home.
Another win will see the Bulls edge closer to a birth in the Sheffield Shield final, while a loss to the Warriors will open the competition right up.
So will the Western Warriors be able to capitalise on their returning internationals to spring an upset? Or will the Queensland Bulls continue their run towards the Sheild final with another win? Join The Roar to stay on top of the action with scores from 1:30pm (AEDT) on Thursday.
