Michael Bisping savages ref, corner as one-sided UFC Tampa bout rages on

Former middleweight champion Michael Bisping has slammed the referee as well as a fighter’s team at UFC Tampa.

Thomas Gifford was put through the wringer as Mike Davis controlled the duo’s lightweight bout right from the get-go.

Referee Andrew Glenn as well as Gifford’s team, allowed the fight to go on despite Gifford clearly being out of his league, copping an onslaught of strikes to the head in the process.

Commentating for ESPN, Bisping was far from impressed.

“It’s the coach’s job to say, ‘You know what, son? Tonight’s not your night,'” Bisping said during the third round.

“He shouldn’t be taking anymore shots right now. Simple.”

Bisping then turned his attention to the referee, saying he needed to intervene.

“I think this referee needs to man up. He needs to step in and do his job if I’m honest.

“The referee’s job is to protect the fighter and right now it’s one-way traffic.

“This isn’t a fight.”

The bout was eventually called with 15 seconds left, after a final right punch sent Gifford faceplanting onto the canvas.

The victory is Davis’ eighth of his career.
