UFC veteran makes Bellator history with 35-second TKO
35 seconds can be all you need to make history.
American fighter Ryan Bader took only that long to dismiss his Russian opponent Fedor Emelianenko and in doing so, did something that hadn’t yet been achieved in the Bellator competition.
Bader, having already taken up the heavyweight title, added the light heavyweight belt to his name to become the first two-division Bellator champion.
Referee Mike Beltran was forced to intervene in the opening minute of the main event bout of Bellator 214 after Bader knocked Emelianenko down with a rapid left fist before a brutal right hand strike.
The 35-year-old previously switched over from the UFC – last featuring in Dana White’s competition in November, 2016 – and first appeared in a Bellator fight in June, 2017.
Bader, who has an overall record of 27 wins from 32 professional bouts, has now achieved KO/TKO results in five of his last seven fights and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
