So Australia are coming off a win going into this, having put four goals on South Africa last night, whereas Scotland have already played two games, for a win over South Africa and a loss to Canada.

The backup from playing games in consecutive days for these teams will probably be the deciding factor later on in the tournament, but for now the Kookaburras will only have a slight advantage, only having played one game to this point.

This Scotland side has potential both in attack and in defence, having scored four against 15th-ranked South Africa, keeping both of their opponents quiet so far, conceding only one goal over 120 minutes of Hockey.

The attack-based Kookas may be shut down against them, as were their friends the Hockeyroos last night, with Ghana looking to drown them out.

Recent results point to circle-crowding, so don’t be surprised to see the Scots in defensive mode.

Look for an interesting game, the Kookaburras need a win to stay in the hunt for finals, bearing in mind the tough pool they have, which includes New Zealand and Canada.

Already it’s obvious that if Scotland are to break Australia’s 28-match winning streak at the Games, a lot will have to go right for them, and plenty will have to go wrong for the Aussies.

Prediction
Considering I nailed last night’s prediction, I’m probably getting this wrong, but Kookaburras 4-1.
