The Adelaide Strikers are one of eight teams that participate in the Big Bash League. They are the only team based out of South Australia, and play their home games at the picturesque Adelaide Oval.

Last season, they were considered a good chance to lift the trophy for a second straight time. With international-calibre players in Travis Head, Alex Carey, Billy Stanlake and Peter Siddle, they were seen as one of the teams to beat in BBL|08.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t what happened. A rough six-win campaign saw the Strikers fail to defend their maiden BBL title, missing the finals altogether and finishing second-last.
