The Adelaide Strikers are one of eight teams that participate in the Big Bash League. They are the only team based out of South Australia, and play their home games at the picturesque Adelaide Oval.

The Strikers entered BBL|09 with several personnel changes. Most notably, South African Colin Ingram departed, allowing for the signing of English big-hitter Phil Salt. Adelaide also signed BBL veteran Cameron White.

Attempting to avenge a six-win campaign from the season before, the Strikers were one of the more consistent teams in BBL09, finishing third. Their finals campaign was brief, however, falling to the Sydney Thunder in the Knockout.
