Playing in the island state of Tasmania, the Hobart Hurricanes are one of the Big Bash League‘s eight clubs. They play most of their homes games at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval, but also play some matches in Launceston.
The Hurricanes entered BBL09 under some uncertainty, with big stars in Jofra Archer and Matthew Wade unavailable for large stretches – or the entirety – of the competition due to international duty. As such, they weren’t predicted to do very well.
However, they managed to erase a poor start and put together strong form late in the season and qualify for the finals. They were defeated in ‘The Eliminator’ by the Sydney Thunder.
