The Sydney Thunder represent Sydney’s west in the Big Bash League, playing out of the Sydney Showgrounds Stadium, while playing a handful of matches in Canberra too.

The Thunder have had a penchant for finishing last, claiming the first three Big Bash wooden spoons and four overall.

A long list of player exits proved tough for the Thunder to overcome in BBL|09. However, they snuck into the finals in fifth place and bested the Hurricanes and Strikers before finally succumbing to the Melbourne Stars in the Challenger.

Not much has changed with the Thunder’s batting core for this season, though amid the surge of league-wide English signings they have coupled last year’s second most run-scorer Alex Hales with fellow countryman Sam Billings. Usman Khawaja and Callum Ferguson back up for the Thunder as they try to capture their second BBL crown.
