The Adelaide Strikers welcome the Brisbane Heat to the Adelaide Oval, looking to build on what was a stunning win in Tasmania a few nights ago. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 6:15pm (AEDT).
It’s been a poor BBL campaign for the Strikers, especially when you consider they are reigning champions.
For whatever reason, they just have not been able to get going, and with that being the case, they are likely to not be playing in the finals campaign this time around, although they are still mathematically alive for the time being.
They did, however, find some form against the top-of-the-table Hobart Hurricanes the other night in Launceston. They chased down 170 runs in 17.5 overs.
Alex Carey (54) and Jake Weatherald (82) set up a seven-wicket victory, and the Strikers will be hoping those two can perform to a similar standard for the remainder of the tournament.
There will also be a sense of frustration despite the victory against the Hurricanes the other night, as they showed they are more than capable, but just have not found any consistency this season.
As for the Heat, they have also had a disastrous campaign and will not feature in the finals this campaign.
However, they also found some form a couple of nights ago against the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba, claiming a six-wicket victory.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled beautifully, which saw him claim three wickets. Josh Lalor also had a night to remember, claiming a BBL hat-trick.
With the bat, Max Bryant again showed his quality with another start. One does get the feeling he is not too far away from a massive innings.
It was Chris Lynn though who got the Heat home, scoring 56 not out in the chase of 129.
Prediction
Both sides have had a similar tournament in terms of success, but the performance the Strikers were able to put together against the Hurricanes the other night would have given them the confidence they needed.
It is important to remember the Strikers are the reigning champions, so they are more than a decent side.
With that being the case, the Strikers should have too much for the Heat in this clash.

Wonderful innings by Renshaw tonight - didn't know he could strike the ball so hard or be so inventive - lets hope he can build on this and finish the season strongly and put pressure on Burns and Harris for a spot in the Ashes squad
