The Melbourne Stars have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the finals and the Adelaide Strikers can go a long way to doing the same with a win at home tonight. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:10pm (AEDT).

The Strikers come into this match off the back of a win in Hobart against the Hurricanes on Sunday. Adelaide were sent in to bat first and set the Hurricanes a total of 186. Captain Travis Head top-scored with 79 off 40 balls. In-form batsman Jono Wells was not too far behind with 45 not out off 35.

Four wickets from Wes Agar and some strong defensive bowling by Peter Siddle and Michael Neser saw the Hurricanes fall ten runs short in their chase.

The Stars’ last match was a rain-affected affair against the Sixers on Monday night. Having won the toss, Melbourne elected to bowl first knowing that DLS would have an impact. In a match shortened to 14 overs each, the Stars were set a target of 144. Marcus Stoinis continued his run-scoring form, notching up 62 off 37. That wasn’t enough, though, as the middle order failed to make runs quickly enough to chase down the target in just their second loss of the season.

The Australian national team players have returned from the ODI tour of India to bolster both squads. The Strikers regain wicketkeeper Alex Carey, with Harry Nielsen making way.

The Stars get both Peter Handscomb and spin bowler Adam Zampa back. Jonathan Merlo and Jackson Coleman, who was a late out against the Sixers with a side strain, come out of the squad. Handscomb did wear the keepers gloves for the first part of The BBL season for the Stars, but with Seb Gotch now back in the side, Handscomb returns as a batsman.

Prediction
The Strikers arguably have more to play for and are at home. Though both teams have key players in hot form, I’m leaning towards Stars – but really I wouldn’t be surprised by a Strikers win.

Follow all the action on The Roar, with coverage starting at 7:10pm (AEDT).
