Day 2 of the fifth Ashes Test resumes between Australia and England in Hobart today after light rain cut short Day 1. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 2:15pm AEDT.
Australia resumes at 6 for 241. A remarkable scoreline considering the side was 3 for 12 off 10 overs in the first hour on Day 1.
Travis Head’s blistering century was one of the best counterattacking hundreds you’ll see and he was well supported by Cam Green who completely demoralised England after the tourists thought they had Australia on the ropes.
With an extra-long day today and indeed the rest of the Test to make up for lost time, England are still in the match but need to take quick wickets in the opening session.
That will be tricky with captain Joe Root limited by his bowling options. All-rounder Ben Stokes is unable to bowl after carrying an injury into the game while Ollie Robinson hurt his back after bowling just eight overs.
Express pace bowler Mark Wood went at 7 runs an over on Day 1 but he did get the wicket of Green after some short-pitched bowling.
Stuart Broad will be called upon to try and finish the Australian innings. He was by far the best bowler for England.
Australia on the other hand will be searching for more quick runs to take their total over 300.
