The final Test between Australia and New Zealand continues in Sydney, with the home side well placed to begin Day 2. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:30am (AEDT).
At the end of Day 1, Australia sit in control of the third and final Test between the nations, just three wickets down with 283 runs on the board.
New Zealand made mass changes to their side before play was due to get underway on Day 1, with skipper Kane Williamson among five exclusions.
Spinner Mitch Santner and Henry Nicholls are out through illness, as is Trent Boult (injured) and Tim Southee (rested). Tom Latham is standing in as captain.
Australia went in unchanged and got off to a strong start. Joe Burns fell first for 18, another good start he was unable to capitalise on.
In the first over after lunch, David Warner fell to the Neil Wagner short ball, but the Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne partnership once again built a strong innings.
Smith made another half-century, but was comfortably caught late in the day at slip.
Continuing on from another century, Labuschange finished the day 130 not out, while Wade’s late cameo puts him on 22 runs from 30 deliveries.
How long can – or will – Australia bat for, or can the Kiwis find a way to restrict the total on another hot summer day in Australia?
