Match preview:

Australia will look to take a clean sweep of the Rose Bowl ODI series against New Zealand today, coming to you from the Junction Oval in Melbourne. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match starting from 10:50am AEDT.

Australian women’s cricket has had a summer to remember. It started with the comprehensive T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean in November and was then followed by arguably the best WBBL to date.

Certainly, fans at Drummoyne Oval were treated to two weekends of fantastic finals action with the Sydney Sixers finally emerging victorious. Played in front of sell-out crowds, it looks as though women’s cricket has finally arrived.

After the NSW Breakers added to their tally of consecutive domestic series wins, we finally moved on to the Rose Bowl Series against New Zealand.

Australia will take an unassailable 2-0 lead into tomorrow’s match but definitely haven’t had everything in its favour.

New Zealand should have won Game 1 after captain Amy Satterthwaite and Katie Perkins almost got within 50 of the modest Australian target with 6 wickets in hand and 9 overs to go. Some great pressure bowling by Jess Jonassen got Australia home by 5 runs.

The Australian innings in the second game was rescued by Ellyse Perry’s unbeaten 107. New Zealand never really recovered from this fightback and Jess Jonassen continued her remarkable return to the Australian team with bowling figures of 5/27.

Prediction
New Zealand will be keen to avoid a clean sweep but Australia just seem to have too many match-winners in their team. The likes of Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy will be keen to have a large impact tomorrow
