Pakistan’s first innings will resume at 6/96 on Day 3 of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the day, starting from 2pm (AEDT).

Australia’s first innings resumed on Day 2 with the score at 1-302. David Warner (166 not out) and Marnus Labuschagne (126 not out) were the two batsmen at the crease, and they continued their good form to begin the day.

Labuschagne was eventually dismissed for 162 when he was bowled by Shaheen Afridi, which saw Steve Smith come to the crease.

Smith came out with intent, and with that being the case, he made an entertaining 34 until Afridi struck again.

That brought Matthew Wade to the crease to join Warner, and the Tasmanian had the best seat in the house, as Warner put on a masterclass.

Warner finished on a monstrous 335 not out when Tim Paine declared. However, the New South Welshman should have been dismissed for 226, as he sliced a drive straight to Pakistan fielder Babar Azam, but Musa Khan was called for a no-ball.

Wade also finished with a handy 38 not out, which took Australia to 3/589 declared.

Pakistan’s first innings got off to a woeful start when Imam-ul-Haq was caught by Warner off the bowling of Mitchell Starc. The opener departed for two.

Azhar Ali shortly followed when Pat Cummins found his outside edge, and Smith took the catch in the cordon. The captain departed for nine.

Shan Masood got off to another start, but he was dismissed for 19, as Josh Hazlewood found his outside edge, and Paine took the catch.

Starc finished the day superbly, taking the wickets of Asad Shafiq (nine), Iftikhar Ahmed (10) and Mohammad Rizwan (zero). Paine took the catch for all three of the wickets.

Pakistan are 6/96, with Azam (43 not out) and Yasir Shah (four not out) the two batsmen currently at the crease.

With a lead of 493 runs, Paine will more than likely be looking to enforce the follow-on, providing Australia take the final four wickets quickly.
