South Africa will look to take the series over Australia when the sides clash in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 2:20pm (AEDT).

It was a dismal day for the hosts in Perth on Sunday, suffering a six-wicket loss and failing to put to bed any of the controversy or criticism that has surrounded them for the best part of eight months.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first, and it made it count on a lively deck.

The South African bowling was simply brilliant. Dale Steyn and Lungi Ngidi put the heat on the Australian’s and had them three wickets down for just eight runs.

From there the pressure never really released and the Australian bowling line up struggled to get a look in on a pitch South Africa made their own.

After South Africa’s fielding innings, many suspected Australia, with their equally world-class bowling line up, would take early wickets and put some pressure on the visitors, despite the small chase of 152 runs.

It was not the case though. Marcus Stoinis took three, but the batting from Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram guided South Africa to a 1-0 series lead.

Shaun Marsh did not play on Sunday, requiring surgery on an abscess and Ben McDermott has been added to Australia’s squad for coverage, should the batter not recover in time for Adelaide.

The final teams will be announced at the toss. Will spinner Adam Zampa get a bowl on his home deck?

The troubles continue for Cricket Australia behind the scenes; another two heads went rolling on Wednesday and the poor crowd at Perth Stadium was a clear indication the Australian public have little faith in this organisation and their national team at present.

Prediction
A comprehensive display on Sunday was just the start.

The South Africans are full of confidence and will want to finish the series off, while Australia are second-guessing everything they do.

I’m hopeful Australia will put a better performance together, but it won’t be enough for a win.

South Africa to take the series with a victory in Adelaide.
