Australia will continue to press for a Test victory over Sri Lanka on Day 4 at Manuka Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the day, starting from 10:30am (AEDT).

Sri Lanka resumed Day 3 on 3 for 123, looking to chase down Australia’s first innings total of 534, but that objective never looked like being achieved.

Tim Paine’s side took wickets and took wickets quickly, which saw the Sri Lankan side dismissed for 215.

Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers come the end of the innings, as he finished with 5 for 54. Nathan Lyon picked up two wickets, although you could argue he could have had more, as he did look a constant threat, especially to the left-handers.

Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne both finished with one wicket each. Dimuth Karunaratne was the only Sri Lankan to get above 50.

Paine decided to bat again despite having a substantial lead, but the Aussies did not get off to a great start.

Marcus Harris (14) and Joe Burns (9) had to depart early as they were both snicked off by Kasun Rajitha and Vishwa Fernando.

Labuschagne did the same moments later as he was dismissed for four by Rajitha.

Travis Head steadied the ship and continued his good form with a half-century. It was Usman Khawaja though who took the most from the Australian second innings, scoring an unbeaten 101.

Paine declared setting Sri Lanka a total of 516 runs to win.

Lahiru Thirimanne (8) and Karunaratne (8) opened the batting for Sri Lanka and got through until the end of the day, which did come early due to bad light.

Sri Lanka will resume day four 0/17 needing 499 more runs to win.

Australia no doubt will win this Test match and one wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen on day four.
