With just three days until the first ball of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Australia take on Sri Lanka in their second official warm-up game. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 7:30pm (AEST).
Australia picked up a surprising win in their first warm-up fixture against England,
Steve Smith has impressed in his recent return to the Australian colours and that was again on display against England.
The former skipper made 116 runs off 102 balls and was top scorer in the game, while Australia’s bowlers shared the wickets, and collectively bowled out England with three balls to spare, to win by 12 runs.
This second fixture is another opportunity for Australia to trial any other batting orders or bowling options, to settle the side before their first official World Cup game against Afghanistan on June 1.
Sri Lanka suffered an 87-run loss their first warm-up game on Friday to South Africa, at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep took two wickets each, while South Africa put on 333 runs. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne got his side off to a good start in the chase, with 87 runs off 92 balls.
Angelo Mathews was the only other Sri Lankan batsmen to break the half-century, scoring a solid 64. These two will be key to success this World Cup for Sri Lanka, but need others to stand up as well.
With Lasith Malinga in form from the IPL, he could be a player to watch this tournament.
Prediction
Australia looked pretty good against Cup favourites England on Saturday night and should get the win here too.
