The BBL continues tonight when the Melbourne Renegades take on the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match starting at 7:10pm (AEDT).
The good news for the Heat is that they are still firmly in the race for the top five. The bad news is that they are the most unpredictable side in the competition.
Just three days after dismantling the Strikers in Brisbane, they suffered a record loss in the return bout on Friday. Bowled out in 17 overs, the Strikers reached the 101 target with ten wickets and almost as many overs in hand.
Until recently, the Heat had been heavily reliant on Chris Lynn. If he fired, the Heat were in with a great chance of winning. With the addition of AB de Villiers and Joe Burns, the Heat should be able to post more consistent totals.
The Melbourne Renegades broke their duck during the week, albeit in a rain-affected game against the Sydney Thunder.
Shaun Marsh and Sam Harper have been generally good at the top of the order while Beau Webster has been impressive in the closing overs.
They have felt the loss of Kane Richardson however, resulting in a bowling attack that will struggle to contain some batting line-ups. They have a big job ahead of them against the Heat.
Prediction
AB de Villiers is only with the Heat for the back half of the regular fixtures. He was bitterly disappointed with his failure against the Strikers and will be keen to atone now.
At home, we will see something special tonight from de Villiers and Lynn, with the Heat comfortable winners.
Heat by 40 runs or five wickets.
