Sydney Sixers

The Sydney Sixers can’t catch the Stars at the top of the table, but they can seal second with a win tonight. The Brisbane Heat meanwhile need to win this to keep their season alive. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:10pm (AEDT).

The Heat were soundly beaten by the Renegades in their last match on Sunday. Wining the toss and electing to bowl, the Heat kept the Renegades to 164. In their chase they were only able to make 120 before being bowled out in the 15th over. Openers Sam Heazlett and Chris Lynn made a solid start, with 56 and 41 runs respectively. From then on, though, was a collapse that saw them lose 9-36.

For the Sixers, their last match was a rain-shortened match against the Stars on Monday. Sent in to bat first, the Sixers got off to a shaky start before Moises Henriques scored 72 off just 31 balls. That knock included two fours and eight sixes. James Vince also played a role in setting a good target. He made 41* off 22.

With the ball, they were economical and defensive enough to prevent the Stars from getting any more than 125, winning by 21 runs.

The Heat make one big change to their squad of 13. Leading run-scorer in the 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship Marnus Labuschagne comes in to make his first appearance this BBL season. Jack Prestwidge is the man to make way.

The Sixers have a major inclusion of their own. Steve Smith comes into the side replacing Justin Avendano, while Ben Manenti replaces Nathon Lyon. The Sixers have said that they hope to have both Lyon and Josh Hazlewood back in time for their next match against the Renegades.

Prediction
Given form and table position, the Sixers will go into this one as favourites. But can you go against both Chris Lynn and AB de Villiers at the Gabba? This will be closer than it first appears, but Sixers to get the win.

Follow all the action on The Roar, with coverage starting at 7:10pm (AEDT).

You can add - nobody in the team seems to have anything between the ears. Pretty much every batsman got themselves out, rather than being dismissed by outstanding bowling.

Thank you for joining The Roar for the coverage of this one. Brisbane got off to a slow start with the bat and were chasing for the rest of the night. For the Sixers, they bowled well and they batted even better. Both James Vince and Josh Philippe scoring 50s. The BBL continues tomorrow with a double header. First up is Hurricanes v Thunder at 6:10pm (AEDT), then it's Scorchers v Strikers at 9:10pm (AEDT). Make sure to join The Roar for live scores for both matches.

The Heat's weaknesses: batsmen are primarily sloggers, bowling attack is not strong, Lynn is not an experienced captain & I don't rate Boof as a coach. Everything else is OK.

A crowd invader. Must be a Heat supporter who reckons he can do better than the substandard players in teal.
