The Hobart Hurricanes were back to their best last time out and will be keen to push on at the top of the BBL ladder when they take on the struggling Adelaide Strikers in Launceston. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:30pm (AEDT).

Hobart are yet to lose at home this season, although their only two losses came at either end of a five-game road trip which blocked up the middle third of their season.

Outside of that, they have been in outstanding form, and proved it to be the case back at Hobart on Tuesday afternoon with an emphatic beatdown of the Heat.

The Brisbane Heat, batting first, were in all sorts of bother at three for nothing early on at Blundstone Arena, before they ended up with 145.

While the score was a good recovery, the Hurricanes have won plenty of matches in powerplays this year, and so it proved against the Heat, with their batsmen then coming out and completing the job one wicket down.

Matthew Wade was an early casualty, but they got there with almost six overs to spare in the end as D’Arcy Short and Caleb Jewell – who stood up to make No.3 his own, got the job done.

Short and Wade have been in excellent form and alongside the James Faulkner-led bowling attack, there is little the Hurricanes haven’t done this season.

The Strikers, on the other hand, have put in a surprisingly bad run, and a loss in their last start against the Sydney Sixers on Tuesday all but ended their finals hopes.

They have won just four of their 11 games so sit in sixth, and while it’s not curtains yet, it’s nearly so, and for a chance at playing finals cricket, they must win all of their remaining games – a task easier said than done.

However, they do have the cattle to pull it off – they just need major improvement.

Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald hold the key at the top of the order, and even more so in this match against an explosive batting order of the Hurricanes and a ground where big scores are expected. Rashid Khan is the other player who must perform well for the Strikers.

Prediction
The Hurricanes are in excellent form, despite those two losses on the road. They are still yet to lose in their home state this year, and that’s a record which should continue against a team who have surprised many by just how poorly they have performed throughout the eighth edition of the competition.

Hurricanes pretty comfortably.
