The Hobart Hurricanes will look to get back to their best and wrap up the BBL|08 minor premiership when they host the Melbourne Renegades, who are still in the hunt for a home final. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:30pm (AEDT).

The Hurricanes, who have two games left in their season, have been the top team by a considerable distance this year and already have a home final locked in.

With a win here, they would go to 10 from 13, 20 competition points and an unassailable advantage at the top of the ladder ahead of the finals.

The Hurricanes have had it all this year, and someone has stood up in nearly every game to ensure they got over the line, although a red-hot Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald took the stuffing out of their bowling attack last time around.

Still, the Renegades don’t quite have the weapons of the Hurricanes, and the likes of Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris will be hard-pressed to see off James Faulkner and Riley Meredith without the new ball duo doing some serious damage.

Of course, while the Hurricanes can wrap up top spot, this game is crucial for the Renegades in that, if they win, it’ll put the pressure on the Sydney Sixers to both win, and keep a higher net run rate to get a home final.

If the Renegades lose, they are destined to a road trip in the semi-finals.

The key for the Renegades is to not lose early wickets with the bat. If Faulkner, Meredith or even Clive Rose can breakthrough, their batting is inconsistent and could fall apart, as it’s done more than once this season.

The ‘Canes, on the other hand, have batted all the way down with relative consistency, and if D’Arcy Short and Matt Wade can get off to a good start, they will be tough to reel in.

Prediction
The Hurricanes might have lost last time out against a determined Strikers, but they haven’t lost in Hobart this year, nor have they lost two on the trot. Hobart will win and wrap up top spot here.

Hurricanes pretty easily.
