Following a heavily rain-affected day saw play interrupted yesterday, the first Cricket World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand will resume today with the Black Caps on 5/211 with three overs to bat.
The Kiwis got off to a rough start when Martin Guptill was dismissed for one inside four overs, but 67 from Kane Williamson and an unbeaten 67 from Ross Taylor – who will resume with Tom Latham – were enough to salvage something from the first innings.
Still, the underdogs will face a very tall order defending what looks to be a low total against the tournament favourites.

The group stage has flown by, and now it is time for the real stuff. This clash certainly does not get the imagination going in comparison to the second semi-final between Australia and England, but it still has the makings of a solid contest.
When these two met in the group stage, the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled, which just adds to the anticipation and uncertainty in regards to this clash.
India head into this game in terrific form. They only lost one match from nine played in the group stage, which saw them finish first on the table.
Virat Kohli’s side possesses the leading run-scorer for the tournament in Rohit Sharma. The opener has compiled 647 runs, while Kohli has also had a solid tournament with 442 runs.
With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah has continued his terrific form in 2019, with 17 wickets next to his name.
If these three players fire, New Zealand will have a tough task stopping India.
In saying that, New Zealand are in the semi-final for a reason, and they definitely have had some solid performers throughout this tournament.
Captain Kane Williamson has had a superb tournament with the bat, amassing 481 runs. With the ball, Lockie Ferguson has been brilliant. The quick is on terms with Bumrah, having also taken 17 wickets.
Both Williamson and Ferguson have been a key reason why New Zealand are where they are and, if they are to beat India, they need to fire again.
Prediction
New Zealand started the tournament superbly, but the reality is they are not playing at that level at the moment.
India’s form has not fluctuated throughout the whole campaign, and it should surprise no one if they win comfortably at Old Trafford to secure their place in the final.
India to prevail
