The West Indies are almost out of the World Cup finals race, but will still look to cause a massive upset as they take on a dangerous and in-form India at Manchester. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:30pm (AEST).

The West Indies almost kept themselves in with a proper chance at the tournament during their last contest, but fell to New Zealand following a collapse, before Carlos Brathwaite came within metres of hitting a match-winning six.

It’s unsurprising, given pre-tournament expectations, but the Windies have been seriously inconsistent, and rely on heavy hitting and short bowling to give them enough good patches to try and take victories in games.

Playing at Old Trafford, which is generally a fairly flat ground with some short boundaries, definitely plays into their hands though, and Chris Gayle is coming off a run a ball 79, which should concern India immensely.

If they can’t get the master blaster early, then it will really impact the Indians, who aren’t quite into the finals of the tournament yet, but are well and truly on track.

The other big factor for the West Indies is the fitness of Andre Russell, who missed the last game.

India, on the other hand, will be out to continue their good run of form which has had them in, for the most part, ruthless form.

Their only let-down on the results card so far was a wash out against New Zealand, however, they have plenty to prove after almost being upended by Afghanistan last time out.

They held on, but it wasn’t without a scare as their batting struggled in difficult conditions.

However, with Jasprit Bumrah leading an incredibly strong attack, they have plenty of means of defending low scores, or setting up low chases, and normally, at least one of their batsmen – whether it be Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan or Rohit Sharma – will find a way to score big runs, and most will be looking forward to a feast on the Windies attack.

Prediction
The West Indies are always a tough team to tip for, or against, but I’ve just got a feeling here that they will take some momentum from their last start and pick up the two points.

West Indies to stun India.
