Fresh from a super over win against the Thunder, the Sydney Sixers resume their Big Bash campaign against the struggling Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 7:10pm (AEDT).

The Sydney Sixers are 3-2 to start the season courtesy of a remarkable victory against the Thunder a few days ago in the Sydney Smash. The Sixers managed to equal the Thunder’s total of 149 after 20 overs, before scoring 16 runs in the super over to secure victory.

It was a great win for a Sixers side that is now beginning to build some nice momentum heading into tonight’s contest against the Renegades.

The Sixers’ bowling attack has performed well so far this season, with Sean Abbott, Tom Curran, Lloyd Pope and Jack Bird all proving difficult bowlers to score off.

Moises Henriques shone with the bat when it mattered for the Sixers, scoring over 41 from 30 deliveries before hitting a match-winning 14 off four balls in the super over against the Thunder.

The Renegades, meanwhile, are winless to start the season, and really need a win to gather some confidence. They have lost their opening three matches and failed to chase down Adelaide’s modest total of 155 at Marvel Stadium a few days ago.

Regardless, the performances of bowlers such as Kane Richardson (4/33) and Cameron Boyce (2/18) against Adelaide should give Renegades fans cause for optimism against a Sixers batting line-up that doesn’t possess the Strikers’ depth.

Renegades batsmen Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh, however, need to start hitting big scores if Melbourne are to stop the Sixers’ winning streak.

Prediction
The Sixers are on cloud nine following a great super over win against the Thunder. However, this is a danger game for the Sixers against a Renegades side that should be expected show up with its best form after a run of outs.

Despite their winless start to the season, the Renegades should draw a line in the sand and emerge victorious for the first time in BBL09.

Renegades to win.

The Melbourne Renegades remain winless in the new season, falling to the Sydney Sixers here as the hosts failed to defend 153 runs with one ball remaining. The Sixers built their innings slowly and a final push from Silk managed to deliver the result for Sydney, who are now sitting pretty on four wins from six matches. The bowling attack from both teams were once again on song as boundaries proved hard to come by for batsmen. It was close but no cigar yet again for the Renegades and their chances of defending their title are quickly evaporating. The Sixers hopes however continues to grow nicely...
