The Melbourne Stars were poor up in Brisbane a couple of days ago, losing by a total of 10 wickets.

Marcus Stoinis was the only positive to come out of the game, as he continued his good form with the bat scoring 81 runs, which propelled the Stars to 156 in 20 overs.

Max Bryant (71 not out) and Ben Cutting (81 not out) were superb for the Brisbane Heat in the chase, as they completed the task within 10 overs.

The Stars now require a victory over the Sixers to secure a finals spot. Their confidence no doubt would have been rocked after the clash with the Heat, but they have no time to dwell.

As for the Sydney Sixers, they have secured a finals berth. From the 13 games the Sixers have played, they have won eight and lost five.

In their previous game leading up to the trip to Melbourne, they faced the Sydney Thunder and won the game comprehensively by nine wickets (DLS method).

The Sixers appear to have an even bowling group, who all contribute with wickets.

Sean Abbott and Tom Curran were the pick of the bowlers against the Thunder taking two wickets each. Steve O’Keefe and Ben Dwarshuis took one each, also.

With the bat, Daniel Hughes (41 not out) and James Vince (43 not out) guided the Sixers home in the chase.

There is no denying that the Hobart Hurricanes are the favourites of the competition, but the Sixers possess talent and will fancy their chances come finals.

Prediction
Both sides are quite even on paper, but the home ground advantage could be the difference here.

The fact the Melbourne team also have to win should mean they are up for this game.

The Stars to prevail in a close one.
