Well Lyon got tonked a bit so far Jeff. There was deep talk it wasnt a ground for spin before it. NZ as I was expecting now on top in this match . I did think you were getting a little too ahead on the Aussie advantage and confidence given the history of this pitch and changing nature of it. but I did some research . Run chases do reveal that 250 to 300 is possible to chase down here . Plays a bit like a headingly . batting 4th is often advantageous . The way they are going NZ will easily make my 300 prediction and maybe 400 plus which means Aus will be chasing anywhere from 250 to 380 for me. I make calls early not afraid too do so. Right now using your scoring style NZ are 126 for 3 after you quoted the 17 for 2 score when I told you to be weary Jeff. At least run chases between 200 to 286 are commonly achievable at this ground in the last 8 years

Yes Jack but India have won in Australia last two tours and England have defended their home record. So that doesnt make Australia look to good does it. My point is Australia is overrating itself on recent form abroad thats for sure let alone two series loses to India and a drawn series with West Indies at home. Hardly compelling dominance and its mostly down to its poor batting

last series NZ played in Eng they got hammered 3-0.

India haven't won in England for 15+ years. Its almost been as long as Aus.

And it gets worse in the last 5 years nz has won in England outright and we haven't, they haven't lost to India at home but did lose away but beat them like we did in etc final in England. They have several drawn on tour and won in Bangladesh. So the Aussie tour record is pretty much behind India, England and New Zealand. I dont like these facts but they are facts . If we measure against ourselves then we have improved a bit but a win against a recovering Pakistan side and the pyscological continuation of a win against our neighbors in nz 8 years ago isn't amazing form on tour despite some improvements for draws

Since the 2019 Ashes, Australia and India have played the same amount of Tests - 46. In that time, both sides have won 27, but India have lost 13 and drawn 5, while Australia have lost 10 and drawn 8. Yes, India have the better Away record in that period (11/8/3), but Australia are second in Away Tests (8/7/5) by any metric, and maintaining a positive win/loss away from home is very good. My suspicion is also that an Australian side touring South Africa would probably do very well now that all of their champion batsmen have retired and the domestic system (or the selection panel) has failed to replace them. Our foreign tours in the last five years have been to England (who have lost only one tour in that period, to New Zealand), India (who never lose at home), Pakistan (beaten by us and England) and we drew in Sri Lanka, which was admittedly a disappointment. Very few teams are touring well at the moment. If we toured New Zealand and the now depleted South Africa more often, we would probably have an Away record similar to India and overall, probably a better record. You're comparing us unfavourably to them, but the stats show that there's two serious sides in world cricket at the moment, and India and Australia are those sides.

Jeff whats worse hate to tell you England have the wood on us touring. They have beaten Pakistan and Sri Lanka and sth Africa and drawn several series away since 2017. Moreover they have not lost to India at home and we got done twice so that rules out the India superiority BS. Fussing about over newly formed wtc and rankings has Aussies pumping the tires a bit. Just some reality 101 and perspective for us all mate even though I have enjoyed our ashes dominance I believe we should have crushed them in 19 but for my historical complaints on certain test team members (Paine and Warner but selectors take some blame there) .

Well go look at Indias record I lost count of away wins or draws. It made me realize we are pretty mediocre touring Jeff. Its just true go have a look at it . its compelling. I haven’t looked at Englands yet but will . I think we are good at drawing series on tour right now let alone at home against windies rookies ???? I mean im not making anything up. We haven’t outright won in India or England for a long time Jeff have we? I think we capable of more . T20 $$ and scheduling is a problem I admit but India are getting it right .
Jeff
Roar Rookie
We've lost 1 away tour in the last 5 years (bearing in mind that means we've denied home wins to the home team 3 times out of 4 - plus the WTC final; imagine if that was the series' outcomes when playing in Australia!) and you've described that as making us look like school rookies. Seriously?
Pierro
Roar Rookie
That our away record is mediocre at best although improved in last 5 years for sure. We aren’t winning though and if you like drawn series well I guess thats a WA thing . mediocrity aint my thing . I know Australia has enough talent to win outright but the management and selectors are poor . T20 dominance I accept is a major problem on test scheduling as is PC cricket Australia giving the players a little to much power (um Warner) . A series outright win in NZ would be a positive step. This test is quite important despite the fact we haven’t lost a series to NZ in what 40 years and its in our backyard -ish really . Our bowling line up is world class. Our batting line up mediocre Jeff thats the brass tax. If it wasnt for smithy holding the team together with a Bradman like effort in 19 and the cummins hoff and to an extent Lyon being freaks then wed be beaten in UK twice. Moreover, We had never lost to India in Australia until the last 5 years and I dont particularly like losing to a rookie west India side at the Gabba in a drawn series. Is that the standard they like in WA now. Too much state cricket pumping over there has their mind aloof mate or maybe McGowan gave you a false bubble fantasia haha. Just ribbing you on that one but its kinda true. I mean 93 percent ..I told you it was ridiculous back then and didnt matter but I get fear builds in a bubble. I think your coming back to the fold now except for don but he is a special case we can look out for.

What’s the relevance of comparing us to India? Remind me again how many away series we’ve lost in the 5 years?

have you actually had a look at Indias record on away tours compare to ours Jeff. Since 2015 or before it makes us look like school rookies. They've outright won in England, West Indies twice, bangledesh , Australia twice and so on. Sth Africa their only disappointment . I wouldn't begin to debate our away record its mediocre at best compared to India mate. Have a look and you won't want to respond.

I mentioned the nz win but we haven't lost to them in 40 years ? and as for Pakistan coming out of exile with a weekend side on a flat deck ok thats a win but they were ranked like 8th test team then. Our away record isn't good. India easily better they have trounced us at home twice. Just reporting the facts mam.
Pierro
Roar Rookie
I just saw yeah the out of exile weakened Pakistan squad. I forgot but still its a win against one of the lower rated sides on flat deck. check out Indias away record, outright won in England , Australia twice , West Indies, Bangladesh heck only sth Africa have nailed them on an away tour for close to a decade . Makes Australia look like rookies as we pump our batting tires. A win for Aus in NZ would be very good but they are in our part of the planet and we do have a 40 year winning record over them I think. Next

No obsession I think its the other way around haha. Once again don deflects away from facts. Beaten once again. you have been drawn, you have been measured and you have been found wanting. No go and tend to your little WA patch with an alternative reality mcgowanite . Just remember when you step over the border one step its the same country, same dirt same country just better cricketers come from the east as evidenced by the make up of the test side ????

Sunny with nor-easter tomorrow. Should be a good batting day. "ten years since the last winning series on tour." Hang on, what? We won the WTC away last year (even if not "a series"). We won the series in Pakistan the year before that and we won the series the last time we played in NZ in 2016.
