Australia will look to clean sweep the series with a win tonight, when they play Pakistan tonight in Dubai. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog, from 10pm AEDT.
The Aussies are in form. Three straight wins in India, before taking out every game of this series to date, means they’ve won their last seven.
After two eight-wicket wins to begin the series, an 80-run triumph sealed the series on Wednesday. Then, they outlasted the hosts by just six runs in a much closer game four.
Today is the last game for Australia before they play Afghanistan in game four of the World Cup, however Pakistan play five ODIs and a one-off T20 versus England as preparation for their game against the West Indies.
Aaron Finch looms as someone the hosts will really need to shut down: he’s scored 116, 153 not out, 90 and 39, including two man-of-the-match awards.
Even though this game is a dead rubber, Australia will be keen to head into the World Cup on a high, and to do so, they’ll need to dismiss Mohammed Rizwan and Abid Ali – both with centuries in the last match – early on.
In the bowling department, it’s Nathan Coulter-Nile who is reinforcing his white ball status with a number of wickets after coming into the side, however Jason Behrendorff is expected to come back into the team.
While Pakistan are heavy underdogs, they’ve never been far off the mark this series, and should Australia take some early wickets, they do bat very deep.
I’m tipping Pakistan to get the job done at home, given the Aussies have little to play for, while the home team will be out to salvage some pride.
After their 2017 Champions Trophy win, they won’t be far off favourites for the world cup, and will want to leave for England on a winning note.
