Australia will continue in the middle on Day 2 of the second Test after bowling Pakistan out for 282 on Day 1. Join The Roar for live coverage from 5:00pm (AEDT).

Pakistan won the toss for the second game in a row and again chose to bat, sending the Australians into the familiar position of bowling first.

It was a different story to the first Test, though, as Australia bowled the hosts out for 282 runs with a half hour still to play yesterday.

Nathan Lyon tore through the Pakistani batting order in the first session, taking four wickets in just six balls.

Marnus Labuschagne finished with three scalps from his 12 overs, while pacemen Mitchell Starc (two wickets) and Mitchell Marsh (one) rounded out the wicket-takers. Labuschagne was involved in plenty for Australia, including a juggling effort at short leg off Mitchell Starc’s bowling to help snare the all-important first wicket.

Fakhar Zaman and Sarfraz Ahmed top-scored for Pakistan with 94 runs each, and a knock of 28 by Yasir Shah in the lower order was the next best.

Three Pakistani middle-order batsmen fell for ducks during the Lyon-inspired collapse.

There were seven overs left in the day’s play when Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja headed out to the middle for Australia.

Khawaja was caught behind, strangled down the leg-side for three runs, and Peter Siddle came in as nightwatchman with under three overs left in the day.

Off the final ball of the day, a review by Pakistan ended Siddle’s contribution, the Victorian given out LBW, and the tourists finished at stumps with the score 2-20.

There’s a lot of batting for Australia to do on Day 2, while Pakistan will be plotting to steamroll right through with quick wickets as they did during the first innings of the last Test.

Join The Roar for live coverage of all the action on Day 2 of the second Test from 5:00pm (AEDT).
