The T20 World Cup continues with an all-African clash as South Africa face off against Zimbabwe in Hobart. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7pm (AEDT).
South Africa possess a strong bowling attack, as they showed in their warm-up victory against New Zealand, where they bowled the Black Caps out for 91.
Pressure will be on skipper Temba Bavuma to fire with the bat, or else calls to drop him midway through the tournament will grow louder and louder.
Marco Jansen has replaced the injured Dwayne Pretorius in the Proteas squad, and the left arm seamer could leapfrog Wayne Parnell for the bowling all-rounder spot in the team.
The confidence Zimbabwe has gained from beating Australia in Townsville before the World Cup is amazing to see. The batters are fearless (but also reckless at times), led by talisman and match-winner Sikandar Raza.
Raza is in the form of his life now and will be relishing the opportunity to showcase his skills in the Super 12.
Amongst the bowlers, young quick Blessing Muzarabani is one to watch out for. Possessing the action of Kagiso Rabada and getting the bounce Morne Morkel used to get, Muzarabani will be a threat in the powerplay and middle overs
Prediction
The wickets in Hobart haven’t been as quick as I expected them to be at this time of the year. Bangladesh will play the Netherlands on the same wicket before these two sides face off against each other.
On a used wicket, South Africa have their trump cards of spin twins Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi to rattle the opposition with their tweakers; and that’s why I believe there will be no upset with the Proteas to kick off their campaign with a victory.
