Bangladesh captain apologises for ugly fight at the end of the U19 World Cup final
Bangladesh’s captain has apologised after ugly scenes overshadowed his team’s victory over India in the U19 Cricket World Cup final.
After the winning runs were hit Bangladesh team members raced onto the field and celebrated as tensions boiled over between opposition players.
Umpires were forced to break up players and it took some time before order was restored.
“It should not have happened,” Bangladesh Captain Akbar Ali said in a post-match press conference.
“In the final, emotion can come out and the boys were getting pumped up.” “We have to show respect to our opponents and we should have respect for the game,” he added.
Captains speak: 'Dirty,' says Priyam Garg; Akbar Ali 'sorry' for the reaction of his boys
