Don't 'overdo' day-night Tests, Starc tells cricket world

Australian fast bowler Mitch Starc hopes red-ball cricket remains the standard form for Tests despite his stunning record with the pink ball.

After picking up seven wickets in the second Test against Pakistan, Starc was once again a handful under the lights as he ripped through the Black Caps batting order, jagging 4/31 in the final session on Day 2 to put the Aussies in control.

However describing himself as a “traditionalist”, Starc told reporters that while it’s good for the game, he hopes cricketing bodies don’t “overdo” the day-night concept for Tests.

SCG Trust chairman Tony Shepherd has admitted he is interested in the iconic ground hosting its first-ever pink-ball Test.
