You need to put your body on the line if you’re playing in England’s T20 Blast. Just ask South African international Keshav Maharaj.
Appearing for Yorkshire against Durham, the left-arm orthodox spinner had an LBW appeal against Australian batsman Peter Handscomb turned down.
However when Hanscomb was immediately called through for a quick single, Yorkshire keeper Jonathan Tattersall got a little too excited at the prospect of a run out.
The 24-year-old raced down the pitch and threw, hoping for the stumps as he was turning, but comically, instead caught Maharaj on the backside.
While Maharaj wouldn’t pick up a wicket, there was eventually some joy for him and his teammates, with Yorkshire later dismissing Handscomb for 19, and bowling Durham out for 132 to claim a 14-run win.
