South African spinner cops it as keeper's run out attempt goes hilariously wrong

You need to put your body on the line if you’re playing in England’s T20 Blast. Just ask South African international Keshav Maharaj.

Appearing for Yorkshire against Durham, the left-arm orthodox spinner had an LBW appeal against Australian batsman Peter Handscomb turned down.

However when Hanscomb was immediately called through for a quick single, Yorkshire keeper Jonathan Tattersall got a little too excited at the prospect of a run out.

The 24-year-old raced down the pitch and threw, hoping for the stumps as he was turning, but comically, instead caught Maharaj on the backside.

While Maharaj wouldn’t pick up a wicket, there was eventually some joy for him and his teammates, with Yorkshire later dismissing Handscomb for 19, and bowling Durham out for 132 to claim a 14-run win.
