Steve Smith returns to the nets after elbow injury

Now this is a welcome sight for Aussie cricket fans.

Former captain Steve Smith has posted vision to Instagram of his return to the nets following an injury layoff.

The 29-year-old suffered an elbow injury during his stint with the Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League.

And while it remains unclear as to when exactly Smith will be considered fully fit, amid fears he may not feature at the World Cup prior to the Ashes, the man himself seems to think he’s on the mend.

“Great to have my first hit back today,” Smith wrote along with the post. “The elbow is feeling good!”

Smith’s 12-month international ban for his part in the ball tampering scandal will lapse in late March.
