The second weekend of the Gfinity Elite Series continues at 11am (AEDT) today, with Rocket League taking centre stage at the Hoyts Gfinity Esports Arena.

The order of things was turned upside down in week one, with both of last season’s grand finalists losing their opening matches.

The reigning champions, Melbourne Order, found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline to a new-look Sydney Roar team, while Melbourne Avant – the surprise runners-up – were also felled 3-1 by last season’s easybeats, the Brisbane Deceptors.

In between those upsets, it was the Sydney Chiefs who prevailed 3-2 in absolutely thrilling tussle with Perth Ground Zero.

Whether the first week was just early-season shenanigans, or whether we really are in for a fundamentally different Season 2 remains to be seen.

Melbourne Avant will be hoping to avoid an 0-2 start for the second straight season when they come up against the Chiefs first up, while Ground Zero will be in the same boat as they face off against a Roar team everyone is trying to get a read on.

Brisbane will be looking to boost their chances of a franchise-first playoffs appearance if they can go 2-0 – but they’ll need to get past a reeling Order side to do so.

Join us as we keep track of all the action with a live stream from 11am (AEDT).
