It’ll be Street Fighter V taking us home from 4pm (AEDT) today, as the second weekend of the Gfinity Elite Series comes to a close.

Melbourne’s two teams may have made themselves the teams to beat last week, but a lot can change in a five-week season.

Melbourne Order got their title defence off to the perfect start with a 4-1 win over the Sydney Roar, while Melbourne Avant, who finished atop the standings last season but stumbled in the playoffs, started the redemption tour in style with a 4-1 win of their own over the Brisbane Deceptors.

In the middle of those matches was a clash between last season’s beaten semi-finalists in the Sydney Chiefs and Perth Ground Zero, with the Sydneysiders walking away 4-2 victors.

Will it be more of the same this week? Or will more intriguing storylines emerge?

Avant will be hoping to reaffirm their contender status when they kick the afternoon off with a mouthwatering battle against the Chiefs.

The stakes will be just as high – but for different reasons – in the second game as Perth and the Roar both desperately try to avoid falling to 0-2.

The Street Fighter action, and the weekend itself, then conclude at 6pm as Order look to reassert their dominance over a Deceptors team who’ve shown more than their historical results suggest.
