Originally known as the glamour club of the A-League, Sydney FC has lured the likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Dwight Yorke, Benito Carbone and Juninho to the harbour city during its history.
Having been crowned the inaugural A-League champions in 2005/06, the club went on to claim their first Premiership, and second Championship, in a highly successful 2009/10 season. Since then, though, the club has been inconsistent, going from the one extreme of making the grand final in 2014-15 (where they were handily defeated by the Melbourne Victory, 3-0) to missing the finals altogether in 2015-16.
As always, there are high expectations on Graham Arnold’s men for 2016-17, with the signing of Brazilian Bobo expected to cure the maladies up front which plagued the Sky Blues in 2015-16.
