Well Roarers I’m back after a mini hiatus, I promise I’ll be back more often! Rather than doing the early quaddie and the late quaddie from Flemington, I’m mixing it up this week and previewing both late quaddies from Flemington and Randwick.

We have some awesome races on the card, highlighted by the Group 1 Australian Guineas along with a stack of other group races at Flemington. At Randwick, we have the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes where mighty mare Winx is involved.

Hopefully some more history will be made there, while we also have the Group 1 Surround Stakes for the three-year-old fillies; it makes for a huge days racing!

Flemington late quaddie

First Leg – The TAB Shaftesbury Avenue Handicap Group 3 1400m
Grunt (1) is resuming here and is a dual Group 1 winner here, loves it at this track. First up last preparation he finished fifth, which was a nice resuming run. Vomes off a trial at Cranbourne where he trialled well.

Widgee Turf (3) is such a consistent horse – this guy hardly ever runs a bad race. Flew home against the pattern of the day here off freshen up last time out and produced the quickest last 200 metres of the race, is fitter here.

Furrion (7) resumes here for the Hayes camp formally trained by Darren Weir, this horse is unbeaten fresh and walked in first up last preparation. Furrion also went on to beat subsequent Group 1 winner Best of Days last preparation.

Poetic Dream (11) has plenty of talent but we just haven’t seen it yet, he resumes here as a gelding which could help him out a bit and become a better race horse. Had two trials in preparation for this and had a nice trial win at Woodonga, I’d be wary of him!

Streets of Avalon (12) beat third easily at Caulfield two starts back where he finished second behind Heptagon, had a sweet run last start here and was just too good for them

Second Leg – Blamey Stakes Group 2 1600m
Material Man (1) was tightened for room at a key stage last week but worked through the line nicely, good horse on his day and has a great strike rate. Fifty Stars (5) ran well through the line first up at Moonee Valley, stretched out to 1400 metres last week and warmed up late also got scoped with mucus after that, can win here.

Johannes Vermeer (6) is a horse we haven’t seen since the 2017 Melbourne Cup, where he finished second behind Rekindling. Ran Gailo Chop to a head in the Caulfield Stakes first up last preparation, is a quality horse and it will be interesting to see how this horse has come back.

Tom Melbourne (9) won well fresh and ran fast time, last time out just raced a bit keen in the lead and faded to finish sixth behind Winx, can bounce back here.

With Theanswermyfriend (11), you have to forgive the run at Caulfield where he finished down the track, was much better last time out after getting no peace out in front here at Flemington behind Streets of Avalon.

So Si Bon (12) led two starts back and battled on well here for second behind Slientz who is a smart horse, ridden colder last start and ran home in the fastest last 200 metres of the day.

Third Leg – Australian Guineas 1600m Group 1
Long Leaf (2) gave Social Spin weight here fresh where he finished second on that occasion, then he went over to New Zealand and won a listed race in nice style, Ringerdingding form ties him in.

Ringerdingding (4) kept closing fresh, stayed at 1400 metres second up against Group 1 WFA horses and ran home one of the fastest last 200 metres of the day. The Inevitable’s (7) only defeat was on debut and is unbeaten on dry tracks, won the Tasmanian Guineas well then came here to Flemington had a tough run and still won the C.S Hayes.

Hawkshot (8) led at a strong clip and gave a big kick at Caulfield, he ran a full second quicker than the Group 1 WFA Orr Stakes field, if he runs 1600 metres he is a big chance!

Amphitrite (14) had 58 kilos fresh, had the right run and won well when resuming for a new stable after being trained by Darren Weir, can go on with it here.

Mystic Journey (15) had an outstanding last 200 metre split fresh, don’t think she loved the wet when being too good for older males at her last start. Her win last preparation at Moonee Valley was outstanding.

Verry Elleegant (16) has outstanding ability but still tends to do things a bit wrong as she showed first up where she finished second on that occasion, if she does everything right she can turn the tables here.

Last Leg – Furphy Frances Tressady Stakes Group 3 1400m
Oregon’s Day (2) resuming here, beaten under two lengths by Osborne Bulls and Land of Plenty fresh last preparation, then ran well in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes, her jump out was very good and has plenty of talent.

Clarice Cliffs (14) led and beat a subsequent city winner first up, spaced them at Pakenham last start and ran the fastest last 600m/200m of the day, rising talent here!

Suggestions: 2-14

Randwick late quaddie

First Leg – TAB Chipping Norton Stakes Group 1 1600m
Well no surprises who I’m selecting here, the main attraction we all know and love our darling sweetheart, number 5 Winx. Well what do we need to say about her? Let’s just watch, hope she makes it 31 consecutive wins and 23 Group 1 wins and admire greatness!

Second Leg – Surround Stakes Group 1 1400m
Seabrook (2) is resuming here and has a touch of class about her, has won a Group 1 race here last preparation over the 1600 metres and has an in-form jockey on board.

Fiesta (4) resumed at Warwick Farm with a nice victory over the 1100 metres, beat a pretty smart horse in Estijaab so that form looks good here. Fundamentalist (5) resumed at Caulfield finishing fourth behind the flying Tin Hat who looks a good horse, she then went to Flemington and finished third behind Amphitrite, that form ties in well for this!

Nakeeta Jane (7) resumed at Randwick in a nice Group Two race which she won in fine style, has been Group 1 placed over the mile at this track. Miss Fabulass (8) was favourite in the race that Nakeeta Jane won last start, she had genuine excuses that day and she is better than that, expect her to run well here.

Pohutukawa (12) was also in that Nakeeta Jane race where she finished third on that occasion, is unbeaten second up and won a listed race at Flemington last preparation.

Suggestions: 2-4-5-7-8-12

Third Leg – Guy Walter Proven Thoroughbreds Stakes Group 2 1400m
Dixie Blossoms (1) resumes here off a couple of trials at Randwick where she was honest in both of those, she goes well first up and is a very honest mare, she was group placed on quite a few occasions last year.

Noire (2) resumed with a sixth behind Ecksiten here a fortnight ago, she closed off the race well and wasn’t beaten all that far, she has a great second up record.

Bella Martini (4) resumed with a nice fourth behind a handy horse in Alassio, another one with a good second up record, can go on with it here. As for Eckstein (6); well, if we are including Noire we must include this girl in our selections, she resumed with a very great win here a fortnight ago, will be interesting to see if she can go on with it but can’t knock her.

Alassio (7) has had a few runs this preparation but she is running very consistently and had a nice win a fortnight ago in a Group Three race here, will make her own luck and be hard to run down.

Manicure (9) has already won a listed race at Doomben this preparation and has finished second twice including being beaten a short margin a fortnight ago here behind Alassio, can bounce back here.

Suggestions: 1-2-4-6-7-9

Last Leg – Nelune Foundation Handicap BM88 1200m
Epidemic (1) resumes here after a pretty poor preparation last time, she does have her fair share of ability so we will see if she can return to her form from two preparations ago.

Serene Miss (2) resumes here off a couple of trials where she looked a bit plain but trial form isn’t always everything, has a very good first up record and has her fair share of ability, can test the field here.

Maximus (3) is second up here after a solid performance first up beaten a narrow margin by All Too Royal at Rosehill, very good return to the races and can go on with it here, has a good second up record.

Miss Que (6) resumed with a good first up run finishing second behind Its So Obvious at Canterbury where she was beaten a very narrow margin, she can improve second up here and be right in the finish.

Renewal (8) resumes here off a nice trial win which sees him ready to rock and roll at the races, has a bit of ability and first up last preparation he finished third behind Don’t Give a Damn, has a pretty nice fresh record.
