NASCAR driver attacks rival after incident on cool down lap

The heat of the moment got to two drivers in the NASCAR All-Star race. Even after the cool down lap.

Clint Bowyer was incensed following the race, throwing wild punches at rival Ryan Newman through the window of his vehicle, before he was dragged away.

The two drivers had been involved in a pair of incidents with each other earlier, including a ‘tap’ from Newman which sent Bowyer into the fence as drivers wound down after passing the final flag.

However even after their altercation, there were more shots to come.

“Doesn’t take much of a man to try and fight someone with a helmet on,” Newman told media.

“I think he should be embarrassed of himself.”

Bowyer has defended his actions, saying, “Where I come from, you get poked in the nose for that. That’s what he got”.
