The epic finish to the Austrian MotoGP

By The Roar / Editor

It doesn’t get much closer than this!

The Austrian Grand Prix went right down to the wire with Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso battling it out on the final lap.

Marquez appeared to have done enough to hold his rival off, but the Italian produced a stunning overtake on the last turn to snatch a thrilling victory.

The result brings Dovizioso five points closer to Marquez on the 2019 drivers standings, however, the five-time champion shouldn’t be too worried just yet, still boasting a hefty 58-point lead.

The championship will next head to Britain.

Jorge Lorenzo won in 2018. In 2017, it was almost a mirror image of 2019. That year, Dovi lead into the final few corners, Marquez tried to overtake but overdid it and Dovi hung on for the win. This year Marquez led into the final corner, Dovi overtook and made it stick and won.

This is pretty much a replay of last year. Same riders. Same corner. Would love to see it side by side.
