Match preview:

It’s all on the line when the NSW Swifts host the Melbourne Vixens on Sunday afternoon, at the Quaycentre in Sydney. Join The Roar for live coverage of the preliminary final, with the first centre pass scheduled for just after 1pm AEST.

The two sides are coming off vastly different semi-final matches, with the Swifts well beaten by reigning champions the Sunshine Coast Lightning and the Vixens up and about after a dominant win against the Collingwood Magpies.

This is a sudden death play-off, with the winner to travel north to Brisbane Convention Centre for the Super Netball grand final.

Meanwhile, it’s season over for the loser.

Caitlin Thwaites looked like a woman on a mission from the first whistle last Sunday.

She shared the goal-scoring duties almost equally with Tegan Philip and the pair had a rare victory in the goal circle against the Pies’ Geva Mentor and April Brandley.

They’ll face the combination of Maddy Turner and Sarah Klau on Sunday, and have previously struggled with this.

The Vixens mid-court also turned around their woes of the previous week, but will face another big battle against the experienced international Swifts line-up.

Helen Housby struggled against the South African superstar Karla Pretorius in the Lightning match-up, how will she go against Jo Weston this weekend?

NSW are also missing the feeding combination of Paige Hadley and Maddy Proud, with the latter out with an ACL injury.

The Swifts put everyone on the court last weekend and Sophie Garbin at goal shooter was probably their best move of the day.

Her ability to hold in the ring was brilliant, if things start to go pear-shaped for the Swifts, expect the young gun to be thrown straight in there.

NSW competed well with Sunshine Coast to half-time, but failed to keep that going in the third quarter. For a win over the Vixens, they can’t afford another quarter-long nap.

These teams have met twice in 2019, the Swifts were too good on both occasions.

Their first meeting was in Round 5, when both teams were on a roll, and the Swifts won all four quarters for a 10-goal victory. Again, in Round 12, NSW won all but the last term to prevail by six goals.

Prediction
This middle week of Super Netball finals is an interesting one, as the teams couldn’t be in different form and different mindsets.

The Super Netball final has always featured the winner of the minor final and I think it will do again this year.

The Swifts to go out in straight sets and Melbourne to take on Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Grand Final.

Full Time Love the emotion from the Swifts, they are through to a grand-final. The young team, who no one really gave a chance this year. They are soaking it up and will be out to rectify last weeks loss next Sunday afternoon in Brisbane. That’s season 2019 over for the Vixens. The Renae Ingle retirement tour officially concludes, they just didn’t have the intensity from the first whistle. Melbourne gave the Swifts a fright in the third term, but NSW steadied and stretched the lead out. Paige Hadley named player of the match for her 30 feeds and brilliant run through the centre. Final Score Swifts 60 Vixens 47
