Australian swimming could be in for another golden morning/afternoon in the pool with five chances for medals at the Tokyo Olympics on Day 6 from 11:30am AEST.

Thanks to the opening five days it feels like the pressure is off and while it would be great to pick up some more golds the Australian swimmers can swim with freedom knowing the team has already done better than London and Rio.

With four gold medals in the pool so far – there’s a good chance of at least getting one more today with Zac Stubblety-Cook qualifying fastest in the 200m breaststroke final while the women’s 4x200m relay team managed to cruise through the heats and semi using their backup swimmers to make it to the final. It means they should be relatively fresh compared to the other nations in the final.

Kyle Chalmers is the defending champion in the men’s 100m freestyle, however, he looks to be under a serious challenge this time around and will start in lane 7. It could work in his favour though as we saw with Kieran Perkins in 1996 with a wide lane.

There are also medal chances in the first race of the day with Jack McLoughlin in the 800m while Brianna Throssell lines up in the 200m women’s butterfly final.

Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell will be looking to make the final of the women’s 100m freestyle. McKeon cruised to the semi with an Olympic record in her heat.

It’s shaping up as another massive day for Australia and we’ll be bringing you the action from 11:30am.
