WATCH: It's coming Rome! Italian stuns the field to claim 100m gold
Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs has claimed the 100m gold medal with a barnstorming run in the final.
Jacobs ran a time of 9.80s to edge out the USA’s Fred Kerley (9.96s) and reigning bronze medallist Andre De Grasse (9.98s) for the prestigious gong.
He was already the first Italian to make it to the 100m final at any Olympics.
It continues a remarkable few weeks for Italian sport, having secured the Euro 2020 title in football in July.
