Palmerbet

Palmerbet is an Australian-based bookmaker offering sports and racing betting with Great odds, More Markets, Same Race Multi, Same Game Multi and more.

The Palmer name has been synonymous with the Sydney betting ring for over 50 years. Following in their grandfather Ted’s footsteps, the Palmer brothers brought the family business online in 2013, with a commitment to provide great betting value for Aussie punters.

And no, Palmerbet has no association with Clive Palmer.

We’ve explored what Palmerbet has to offer account holders in relation to markets, odds, interface use and odds in our full review below.

Customer Service

We know major factors in choosing a bookie is knowing how they treat punters and to what extent they provide customer service.

Palmerbet offers customer service through the following:

Helpline (hours not listed)

Phone betting line

Support email: contact@palmerbet.com.au

The onsite help centre has the expected information available, though we found the links continually opening new pages to be a little frustrating as site navigation became an unfriendly user experience.

Sports & Racing Markets

If you’re keen on sports betting, Palmerbet covers the popular markets across a large range of sports including major codes AFL, NRL, NBA, tennis and soccer.

Palmerbet offers a decent selection of sports betting markets with Match Winner, Line and Total alongside a wide variety of Tryscorer markets and the ability to place a Same Game Multi.

This offering, while not as extensive as some other bookies, covers what the majority of sports punters are looking for.

Odds

Looking at some random markets, we checked to see what odds the Houston Rockets were paying against the LA Clippers (2nd November 2022) and at the time of checking the odds were as follows:

Palmerbet: $3.90

Sportsbet: $4.10

PlayUp: $4.20

Unibet: $3.95

Betr: $4.05

TAB: $4.00

Neds: $4.10

Ladbrokes: $4.10

This instance shows that Palmerbet might not be the ideal option for some sports, however they appear to have strong odds across American sports and are widely considered to have one of the better racing odds offering in the market.

Interface and Ease of Use

For keen racing betters, your eyes are drawn to the rotating banners at the top of the page which could lead you to miss the ‘Next to Jump’ section beneath it.

As with most other sites, the featured events are found on the left-hand side menu. Our main annoyance was that some links to different sports or categories were clickable despite not having any live markets to place a bet.

We have noticed they make website & App updates every 2-3 weeks, which demonstrates they are continually looking to improve the user experience.

Betting Apps

Apps for Android and iOS devices are available through Google Play and the App Store respectively.

Special Offers and Welcome Bonuses

Due to strict regulations, bookmakers are no longer allowed to promote any special deposit bonuses or deposit matches as these are considered an ‘inducement’ to open an account. You must create an account and log in to see their latest offers.

What sets Palmerbet apart?

Aside from being a trustworthy mid-level Australian based bookmaker, the main reason to join Palmerbet is for their unique product range, racing offering and weekly member’s promos.

They may not be your first choice ahead of some of the leading bookmakers, but if you’re looking for unique product offering and promos then Palmerbet is a solid option.

Responsible Gambling

Like all reputable, licensed bookmakers, Palmerbet offers responsible gambling help. If your gambling is getting out of hand or to be more than you can afford, you can set limits to how much you deposit, and have the option to temporarily or permanently self-exclude.

Any negatives?

Aside from the navigation issues mentioned earlier, Palmerbet can feel a lot like a second or third tier bookmaker when compared with bigger brands as they don’t seem to be focussed on innovation.

This is both good and bad – they’re a solid bookie to bet with but you’re unlikely to be surprised by their innovation.

Conclusion

The site and its features are slightly lacking when compared to the bigger corporate bookies but getting access to some unique products & offers makes it worthwhile for the average punter.
