Match result:

Winx extended her incredible record-breaking win streak out another race further at the Apollo Stakes, going to thirty in-a-row on Saturday afternoon.

Match preview:

Australia’s favourite horse returns to the track in the Group 2 Weight for Age Apollo Stakes at Randwick. Join The Roar for live coverage and commentary from 3:50pm (AEDT).

With six of the eight runners in this race representing the Chris Waller stable, it is a fair bet that the master horseman will come away with the bulk of the $250,000 on offer today.

Today will be the start of a final preparation for Winx, after the connections saw fit to attempt one last hoorah in 2019.

There is always a risk when ageing horses return from spells that the magic has left them. Some horses just switch off and the interest and desire appears lost.

It would be a disastrous end to potentially the most famous equine story ever told on Australian soil if Winx returns anything less than her best today.

Truth be told, Winx would normally defeat this field with ease and it would not shock to see that result this afternoon.

However, if there is a vulnerable race in this final preparation, this would indeed be the one.

Coming straight off a spell and running just the 1400 metres could be key factors if Winx is to be defeated and prevented from achieving an astonishing 30 consecutive wins.

In saying that, the opposition are nothing to write home about.

Outside Winx, Happy Clapper has the most pedigree and class yet may struggle for a few runs after returning from injury.

Egg Tart, Tom Melbourne and Unforgotten appear the other three in the mix, although if Hugh Bowman has the mare settled in the run, none should be able to match her finishing burst.

Prediction
Logic says Winx wins easing up on the line and so do I. Tipping against such a champion athlete is foolhardy.
