Family's emotional response to seeing Danny O'Brien win the 2019 Melbourne Cup

The Melbourne Cup has been won by an Australian horse for the first time in a decade.

Vow and Declare beat out the international competition to claim the race that stops the nation.

The victory was not only the first for jockey Craig Williams after 14 attempts at the Cup, but also the first Melbourne Cup win for trainer Danny O’Brien.

And speaking to Channel 10’s Michael Felgate immediately after the race, O’Brien’s father and sister could barely contain their emotion at seeing O’Brien’s achievement.
