The Brisbane Broncos host the Canberra Raiders in Round 14 action at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.35pm AEST.

If Kevin Walters had been told in the pre-season that 5 of his players would be selected for Origin I, he would have been more than pleased. However, with his team on the up, he now has the challenge of managing his squad over the next 6 weeks.

The Broncos place in the top 4 is well deserved and that was last exemplified by their 35-24 win over the Titans, after being down 24-4 at the break. Importantly, they did this with Adam Reynolds on the sidelines, which shows that the Broncos have matured this year.

Reynolds will likely go down as the buy of the season, but he has the luxury of working behind a pack containing Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan and Kurt Capewell. Their platform is giving an exciting backline a chance to shine.

Reynolds has been named to return with Ezra Mam moving to 5/8th, as Tyson Gamble is injured. All of the Origin stars have been named, with the exception of Kurt Capewell who is being rested.

After a poor start to the season, Ricky Stuart’s Raiders are starting to find their groove. Their hard fought 22-16 win over the Roosters has them, remarkably, just one win outside the 8.

Canberra’s recent success has been built off their front row, with Josh Papalii and Joe Tapine arguably the best front row in the competition. Their young backline is starting to find their way.

Jack Wighton and Josh Papalii have both been named, pushing Matt Frawley to the reserves and Corey Horsburgh to the bench. The suspension of Jordan Rapana opens up a wing spot for James Schiller. Corey Harawira-Naera returns from COVID protocols.

Prediction

The Raiders recent success has been driven by the dominance of their forward pack.

I don’t think they will get that dominance tonight, which spells trouble for Canberra.

The Broncos should continue their stellar season with a win at home.
