Round 5 of the NRL Premiership continues tonight when the Brisbane Broncos take on the Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:55pm (AEST).

After a bright start to the season, the wheels appear to be falling off at the Brisbane Broncos. Things don’t get any easier tonight when they take on a Roosters side that is starting to find its groove.

After being dismantled by the Cowboys a fortnight ago, the Broncos were again their own worst enemy against the Warriors, with an error-riddled performance.

With news headlines during the week, the Broncos culture and team morale is under the microscope, and Payne Haas seemingly headed for the exit door. Kevin Walters will have worked wonders if he can get his side primed for this one.

There are plenty of changes at the Broncos, with Pat Carrigan and Albert Kelly out for extended periods and Tom Flegler suspended. Billy Walters starts in the halves, Keenan Palasia gets a run at prop, Kobe Hetherington will play at lock whilst Kurt Capewell returns from injury.

The Roosters have had a subdued start to their season but they did find something resembling their best last weekend. They were clinical in their 28-4 win over the Cowboys.

The Roosters pack, led by Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, dominated the Cowboys and this allowed Victor Radley, Sam Walker and Luke Keary to ask many questions of the Cowboys defence.

Back from COVID protocols, Trent Robinson has the luxury of naming an unchanged line up.

Prediction

The loss of Pat Carrigan is massive for the Broncos and I don’t see how the Broncos pack will achieve parity with the Roosters.

If that happens, Radley, Walker, Keary and James Tedesco will have field days.

I fear this might get ugly.

Sydney Roosters by 24.
