Round 11 of the NRL season continues this Saturday afternoon as the Canberra Raiders host the North Queensland Cowboys at GIO Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 3pm AEST.

An understrength Raiders outfit showed the NRL last weekend that they are a legitimate contender for the premiership this year, despite a narrow loss to the Rabbits.

Young forwards Hudson Young and Corey Horsburgh, alongside their more experienced teammates, really took it to the South Sydney pack, unsettling the Burgess brothers along the way. In the end, only some Cody Walker magic proved the difference.

There is only one change for the Raiders with Joe Tapine returning from injury. Sebastian Kris is the unlucky one to drop out of the 17.

The Cowboys returned to the winner’s circle last weekend with a 17-10 win over a struggling Parramatta Eels.

Whilst a question mark has to apply over just how good that win was, the Cowboys are a different team with Jason Taumalolo on board. Matt Scott and Jordan McLean were also standouts, doing their Origin claims no harm.

With Ben Hampton on the sidelines for an extended period, Gideon Gela-Mosby will start on the wing. Josh McGuire has been named as a reserve and will be monitored through the week.

Prediction
Despite the Cowboys win last weekend, they are not playing at the level of the Raiders.

My only concern is how the Raiders will back physically and mentally from the Rabbits epic last Saturday night.

However, in front of a home crowd, Ricky Stuart will have his side primed to bounce back and I’m predicting a comfortable Canberra win.
