Kyle Flanagan has been given another chance by Canterbury Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett as they ‘host’ the Gold Coast Titans on Monday night. Follow along for Monday night footy with live scores on The Roar from 6pm (AEST).

This match was originally scheduled to kick off Sunday footy, but has been shifted back to Monday so the three postponed Saturday games could all be played yesterday. It’s a miracle Peter V’landys has even managed to pull that off, after the Queensland government’s announcement of an imminent snap lockdown threw the league into chaos.

The Bulldogs have steadily improved as the season has worn on, though with notable blips here and there. However, the fact remains they’ve won just twice for the year, and not since Round 14.

The much-maligned Flanagan has been recalled into the number seven jersey in Lachlan Lewis’ place, and with rumours swirling of a move to the Super League, it will be fascinating to see how the 22-year old fares. Luke Thompson will also need to be replaced after being handed a three-match ban mid-week, with Joe Stimson and Chris Patolo the likeliest reserves to step in.

Sitting tenth, the Titans simply must win – and probably handily – to keep their finals hopes alive. A big win would help shave down their points differential, which could prove handy in a tussle with the Raiders, Sharks and Dragons for the last two top-eight spots.

Patrick Herbert’s suspension opens the door for Esan Marsters to return in the centres, while David Fifita returns to his customary starting role after being named on the bench last week.
