The Canterbury Bulldogs and South Sydney Rabbitohs complete Round 18. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 6:15pm AEST.

The Rabbitohs have found their groove over the past two weeks with wins over the Eels and Knights. However, that will all count for little unless they can make it 3 on the trot against the improving Bulldogs tonight.

Following Mick Potter’s appointment as coach, the Bulldogs have claimed 2 scalps over the last month. In a bog at Commbank Stadium in their last match, Canterbury matched the Sharks in the first 40 mins but couldn’t complete the job.

They do have a bunch of young players starting to make their mark. Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr are the stars, but they are being well supported by the likes of Jeremy Marshall-King and Jake Averillo.

In team changes, Aaron Schoupp is out with COVID and replaced by Declan Casey, who suffered a nasty concussion against the Sharks a fortnight ago. Braidon Burns plays his first game in the centres since Round 6. Burton has been named to start but he must be in some doubt after a brutal Origin.

The evidence is pretty clear. Latrell Mitchell’s return to the side makes Souths a much better football team. Missing a stack of players through Origin and injury, Mitchell and Cody Walker put on a show against the Knights. Latrell Mitchell can be polarising but he is also brilliant.

Souths have a tough run home, playing 5 sides in the top 8, including Penrith and the Cowboys. That underlines why they need to win tonight.

Some big names are back for the Rabbitohs, with Alex Johnston and Mark Nicholls returning from injury. Damien Cook and Cameron Murray have been named to back up but Murray would seem unlikely after his Origin concussion.
