Cronulla have been on an absolute scoring tear of late, putting up scores of 40, 40, 24, 46, 28 and 36 in their last six matches – netting five wins. The last two matches were hard-fought against lesser opposition, but the purple patch has seen the Sharks climb to sixth on the ladder – just two points outside the top four.
Parramatta sit third on the ladder – just one point off first – but have been labouring over the last month. They’ve needed everything in the tank to take down the Knights, Tigers and Bulldogs over the last month, while also dropping one to the injury-riddled Sea Eagles. A loss here would open the door for the Roosters or Raiders to overtake them.
The Sharks enjoy a strong recent record over the Eels, having won six of the previous seven meetings between these sides. Neither side particularly enjoys playing at Kogarah Oval, with Cronulla winning one of their three matches there this year and Parramatta losing on six of their last eight visits.
